Job Description:

The Senior Event Operations Manager is responsible for supporting Splunk’s Global Event strategy and programming, enabling events such as our global user conference, .conf, SplunkLive!, Summits, industry programming, and others. This position requires specific skills, including strong project management detail, extensive event logistics experience and proven success in cross functional work leading teams toward a project goal.

This position will include the substantial task of producing documents, leading workstreams and connecting a variety of inputs from various contributors to ensure Splunk event operational readiness. This role is responsible for the full (and sometimes shared) event operations on a particular program, including timeline creation, agency management, space planning and program agenda strategy. This role will also include insight and scope into event customer journey strategy and fulfillment to ensure the most connected user experience.

This person will help achieve event program goals, identify areas for improvement, and implement process improvements related to the overall management and execution of event programming.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and translate our Program goals to create an end-to-end operational strategy aligned to the audience journey and regional or organizational priorities
  • Define each event’s operational strategy, as it relates to producing a successful event and customer journey, and demonstrating needs for a cross-functional team to take action
  • Develop and launch workstreams that drive event tasks with Splunk, partnering with our internal teams and mapping to our external agencies
  • Hold meetings to meet the timelines of the project – with regular cadence and agendas with definable goals
  • Manage all aspects of deliverables, project plans, and reporting for assigned programs
  • Continually connect with key stakeholders in product and corporate departments to ensure priorities and initiatives are aligned
  • Collaborate and work with event agency counterparts to maximize value and output
  • Act as a single point of event continuity across ops, content, tech, and customer journey in order to map area needs and asks to actual execution

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in project and event management in a rapid-growth environment, whether corporate or agency-side, tech sector preferred
  • Recent direct oversight of programs with complex event types – knowledge must include experience with multi-day, hybrid programs serving audiences of 7k or more
  • Ability to work on multiple projects at once, set priorities, work proactively and independently, problem solve, improvise and function as part of a team that must perform well under pressure
  • Knowledge of functionality for multiple tech event platforms is strongly desired. Software knowledge should include Registration systems (Rainfocus, Swoogo,), Housing systems, (Passkey,) Virtual Environments, Mobile Apps and Networking/1 1 meeting systems
  • Commitment to collaborate and develop positive business relationships with all cross-functional peers and stakeholders
  • Diplomacy, integrity, and patience that enables you to work effectively at all levels within a large organization
  • Enthusiastic team player with exceptional communication, writing, project management and interpersonal skills
  • Day to day use and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Smartsheets and Slack is expected
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience and training and a minimum of 7+ years of related experience, preferably in program production, event operations or agency experience
  • Travel limited to assigned events
