Job Description:
This is a unique opportunity to join a non-profit that has been around for nearly 20 years and has roughly 40 employees. The focus of their events are lifestyle and luxury and they spare no expense when it comes to their fundraising efforts.
This person will have ownership of all signature events (2), as well as the ideation and execution of regional cultivation and stewardship events (13), including the development of relationships with existing donors and prospects. This person will have 3 direct reports and the backing of a marketing, communications, and community team. This person will be on-site in their Newport Beach office 5 days a week and travel is roughly 30%.
Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for developing a strategy and directly pursuing corporate sponsorships, in-kind sponsorships. media sponsorships, and corporate/employee giving.
- Responsible for identifying potential corporate sponsorship companies, opportunities and then contacting and cultivating the opportunity into a sponsorship. This will require business development/sales skills and experience, resulting in quantifiable outcomes.
- Lead existing event management team and be responsible for staffing and training of new event staff when needed.
- Oversee event management team in the development and execution of all events including signature events, regional special events and third-party beneficiary participation including managing and cultivating committee engagement and hired consultants.
- Partner with Leadership and the Development Team to develop and steward the donor experience, including building and cultivating relationships with key stakeholders and supporters.
- Actively identify and secure table sales and individual tickets, volunteers, potential partners, and vendor relations.
- Partner with Leadership and Development Team to design budgets and strategic plans and oversee contract management and execution for all events within approved budgetary limits.
- Build and track projects, contacts and communications in Monday and Salesforce to ensure successful and timely execution of all associated deliverables.
- Partner with the Marketing and Communications Team on PR, social, marketing and content development and execution.
- Oversee post-event coordination including but not limited to debrief meetings, recognition to key constituents, financial reporting and ongoing relationship building.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 8+ years of relevant event planning experience, preferably large scale, luxury, lifestyle, and complex events
- 5+ years’ experience of leading an event team
- Prior fundraising event management experience with a solid understanding of the donor lifecycle
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships with high level donors and prospects
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner and to tactfully handle stressful situations, negotiate, and resolve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and to respect and observe organizational protocol
- Computer literacy: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as proficiency with CRM systems; Salesforce CRM experience a plus
- Travel and weekend work will be required
