Job Description:

The Senior Lead Event Marketing Manager is a key role within Lumen that will work as part of the Team for Strategic Corporate internal events and Key Industry Events. You will work directly with stakeholders across the organization to how to align event needs with Lumen’s objectives. In this role, you will plan, develop, and execute events and sponsorships.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

The Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a robust events strategy that is strategic and material to the business to drive awareness and perception.
  • Oversee all aspects of Lumen assigned events – including ideation, planning, design, and execution
  • Execute a consistent/predictable planning and event execution process
  • Support the success of Lumen’s events through innovation, organization, and cross-collaboration across the entire organization
  • Manage budgets and create tracking for various needs related to events to ensure we remain at or below budget
  • Create/maintain a working relationship and establish a high level of trust and competence with sponsors and third-party vendors


Additional Responsibilities

  • Consult with internal stakeholders to determine objectives and requirements for events
  • Set meeting cadence, lead with clear agendas and follow up with detailed notes and action item
  • Support venue search and contracting, and other procurement efforts, as applicable
  • Ensure décor and creative execution meets quality and Brand expectations
  • Conceptualize, create, and deliver customized event programs and agendas
  • Manage meeting room calendaring process for assigned events
  • Maintain and track metrics that are critical to the success of events, such as promotions, leads, opportunities and ROI analysis. Communicate reports on progress and status of programs to internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate with Corporate Communications team on and media inquiries
  • Provide detailed post-event reports by conducting surveys, gathering stakeholder feedback and creating action plans around improvement following all activations


  • Manage event sponsorships, ensuring all assets align with the brand and how we show up at events
  • Consult with internal stakeholders to determine objectives for sponsorship events


What We Look For in a Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in event management, marketing, communications, business or a related field (preferred)
  • A minimum of 8 years of Event Planning / Sponsorship experience
  • Experienced in working directly with senior executives as a strong collaborator and partner
  • Demonstrated and consistent excellence in leading in-person and virtual events, comfortable to adjust in the moment and go above and beyond
  • Ability to work independently taking ownership over event execution
  • Experience working collaboratively on a team and cross functionally with other departments
  • Understanding of marketing strategy and planning
  • Skilled communicator with great interpersonal skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and highly organized
  • Telecom experience a plus


  • This position can be based anywhere in the United States and will require some domestic and international travel (up to 25% of the time).
