Job Description:

The Senior Events Manager is a team member of the Marketing Events workgroup within the Event Marketing team. This workgroup is responsible for a portfolio of external, high-profile event programs attended by Workday customers, prospective customers, sponsoring partners, analysts, and employees. The purpose of these events is to increase brand awareness, develop and advance the company’s sales pipeline, and educate and empower attendees.

The Senior Event Manager will be primarily responsible for the logistical execution of tier one hybrid and digital events, primarily the flagship Workday Rising. As the operations lead, this role will carry out pre-defined strategy and be on point for leading event logistics, cross-functional workstream management, partner agencies and contractors, and project results.

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to have successfully completed large, complex, multi-layered face-to-face and digital conferences
  • 8+ years corporate event experience, working directly for a SaaS-based B2B technology company
  • Experience with sponsorship funded conferences and expo program management
  • Highly competent budget development and management skills
  • Effective project management experience with experienced use of technologies such as Smartsheet, Asana or similar
  • Experience with event technology, registration, mobile, and virtual event platforms
  • Skilled collaborator capable developing and leading workstreams across departments and organizations
  • Outstanding communication skills – both written and verbal – comfortable championing projects internally and addressing the executive level
  • Excellent negotiating skills and experience in working with corporate procurement teams
  • Experience in planning a multi-layered event portfolio including user conferences, executive programs, strategic sponsorships, tradeshows, thought leadership platforms, and other type of events is desired.
  • Self-motivated and resourceful, ability to navigate ambiguity
  • Travel required as needed for site inspections, planning meetings, and event execution
  • Open to support other programs as needed, for example internal events or stretch projects outside of the team

Other Qualifications

  • Follows industry trends and engages with counterparts at other technology companies and within industry organizations to gain best-practice knowledge
  • Experience at a global level to collaborate with EMEA events teams in production of regional versions of flagship events
  • Understands and develops marketing event critical metrics and key performance indicators
  • Develops and reports on Objectives and Key Results (OKRs)
