IBM is looking for an entrepreneurial Senior Events Experience Manager to join and support GTS (Global Technology Services) Infrastructure Services’ business growth. The Events Experience manager will partner with Program Managers and Field Marketers to co-create and execute compelling experiences that build mindshare and foster relationships with clients, leading to business growth. The manager will be the event expert in the sector or industry and tasked with researching and securing venues, planning and managing our events’ calendar, negotiating quotes and agreements with vendors, assisting with event marketing, monitoring timeframes and budgets, networking, and delivering on event brief objectives. The manager will own the end-to-end process from strategy to execution and performance follow-up; for third party and proprietary events in this market.

Responsibilities

  • Deeply understands the markets and latest trends from an event experience perspective. Knows the key events that our key target segments are attending and stays abreast of what competitors are doing. Uses these insights to creatively design and optimize the event program in the United States
  • Develops an annual strategic event plan grounded on business needs, market trends, client preferences, and established marketing programs; designed to differentiate us from competitors, build mindshare and develop and foster relationships with key account segments and ecosystem partners
  • Effectively collaborates with Field Marketers, Sales Teams and Subject Matter Experts for event messaging, content, curriculum, sessions, speakers, etc. to ensure a differentiated and compelling story is presented and that it engages our key target audience.
  • Manages the end-to-end event execution in the market including registrations, vendor relationship(s), SME / speaker presentations, internal/external event communications, venue and/or digital space, sponsorship, show-floor expo, vendor relationship(s), budget and procurement, compliance and follow-up plan to ensure that the event strategy and plan is executed with the highest of standards, within event brand guidelines, and that it leads to KPI attainment.
  • Effective budget management, procurement process management and compliance across all events executed.
  • Continuously monitors results against established KPIs and adjusts event programs accordingly to ensure ongoing improvement.
  • Deeply understands client preferences on event experiences and what drives most engagement within industries. Strives to continuously gather client feedback and uses these insights to improve the event program.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 10 Years + Demonstrated experience in creating and executing B2B event marketing plans, and orchestrating experiences that engage clients across multiple event types (digital live, on demand, in-person proprietary and third party conferences).
  • Vendor management experience including negotiating with show producers to ensure sponsorship and presence meet the needs of the business
  • Excellent written & verbal communications
  • Effective collaboration skills with marketing colleagues and business leaders at all levels
  • Excellent organizational, budget, project management and time management skills
  • Effective use of data and insights to identify opportunities, monitor progress and continuously optimize
  • Flexibility to travel to different event venues (Once pandemic restrictions are lifted

  • Strong executive communications and experience in managing public speakers\\
  • Stakeholder management skills and experience working with sales leaders and sales teams to drive business objectives.

  • Understanding of data privacy rules (GDPR) and compliance for marketing execution
  • Event Marketing experience in Technology services and/or Industry is a plus.
