Job Description:

The Senior Director of Event Experience and Activation inspires a group of people who focus on industry-wide best-in-class event experience deliverables, and operational excellence, across our NASCAR Events. The Senior Director of Event Experience serves as key individual on the Central Consumer Experience team that will focus on developing and executing live event fan-focused programming across all NASCAR venues. Plus, lead new fan facing strategic initiatives. This person must be able to think strategically and creatively, balance multiple responsibilities and can easily collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, must ensure we create a process and environment of best practice and idea sharing across the industry.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and direct NASCAR’s production and live event experience agency(s); ensure they deliver innovative, impactful prerace experience for fans and industry stakeholders. Manage with Track Event Experience teams pre-race ceremonies and post-race celebrations
  • Brainstorm unique, innovative content & programming
  • Operational layout, overall logistics and fan access
  • Communicate effectively with key industry stakeholders such as production, broadcast partners, media members and teams
  • Consistent review and recap of executions with tracks and agencies
  • Develop fan engagement concepts in conjunction with tracks, central marketing and other stakeholders to enhance the fan experience
  • Ensure New NASCAR initiatives: Trackside Live, 1948 and Red Carpet are maximized by our track properties
  • Planning and execution of the live event experience for new events such the LA Coliseum and any new market expansion plans
  • Create, in conjunction with NASCAR Productions, an overall unique and interesting content strategy for all our NASCAR Properties Jumbotron program, taking full advantage of content creation across the company
  • Ensure we maximize on-site content executions with other NASCAR Departments/Verticals such as ENASCAR, NASCAR Licensing, NASCAR Content Team and others
  • Ensure our track properties take full advantage of new fan Wi-Fi expansion and rollout at our properties
  • Identify and embrace new, unique technologies and strategies to provide memorable, fan-focused event content for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Build strong working relationships and encourage collaboration with all regional and central departments, especially the central event experience team, and key external stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the fan experience during all events;
  • Establish and manage annual event experience team budgets;
  • Effectively develop plan to merchandise success, innovation to internal and external stakeholders
  • Work with track properties to develop plan to effectively program fan activation programs across the entire track footprint on event weekends with specific focus on kids/family, camping, Midway activations and infield fan areas
  • Work closely with the NASCAR Insights group to better understand the expectations of the fan of the future
  • Work closely with Senior Management on development of a NASCAR Live Event Baseline Experience and ensure all our properties develop plans and on-site executions that would deliver at minimum the baseline experience
  • Assist in Managing and developing a motivated, high-performance team at Central and the Tracks to establish short- and long-range department goals and objectives

Required Skills / Experience:

  • College degree, preferably in related business field, i.e. Marketing, Sports Management, Event Presentation or Event Marketing
  • Minimum seven years marketing experience preferred; sports marketing, event presentation or event management experience a significant plus
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and can take a project from start to finish
  • Strong ability to think strategically, creatively, and quickly
  • Detail-oriented and organized with outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to work through on-site event logistics and think operationally is a must
  • True team player and collaborator
  • Ability to coordinate and deliver multiple projects at once within strict deadlines
  • Must be able to work extended hours and event weekends
  • Valid driver’s license
