The Meetings Events & Incentive Consultant invests in the future of Southwest’s People in their management and drive of revenue to the Meetings Travel space. This role will work collaboratively with Teams and Leaders in Southwest Business, Marketing, and stakeholder throughout the Company in order to create, build, and maintain key relationships in the Meetings Travel space – a corporate travel option for booking a meeting or large group. The Meetings Events & Incentive Consultant is excited to join the growing, innovative, and impactful Southwest Business Team. Job Summary
- This role is responsible for Serve as the expert in the meeting, incentives, convention, and event (MICE) travel industry as well as the group travel industry for Southwest Business. Support and execute the evolution meetings and groups product to be industry leading. Ensure the Company exceeds its fair share of MICE/Groups business through consultative selling and competitive strategies.
Responsibilities
- Support strategy, achieve goals, drive new leads, and impact revenue in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Events) and Groups business
- Maintain expert MICE industry knowledge ensuring the product is always evolving to capture MICE business and business Groups revenue
- Serve as a meetings industry expert and engage heavily with related industry organizations (Cvent, Smart Meetings, Meeting Planner Association, Meetings Today, etc.) to drive product awareness and new leads
- Stimulate business MICE and groups demand and portfolio revenue through direct/consultative selling
- Identify and secure new MICE and Groups opportunities
- Develop, educate, represent, and manage relationships as well as partnerships on the Southwest business meetings and Groups product with meeting planners and other large format audience planning entities
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee’s Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles and processes for providing Customer and personal services includes Customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating Customer Satisfaction
- Knowledge of the principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services including marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems
- Skilled in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
- Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organizations strategic plan
- Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
- Ability to listen, understand, and communicate ideas presented in writing and speaking with others
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
- Ability to come up with unusual or clever ideas about a given topic or situation, or to develop creative ways to solve a problem
Education
- Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
- Advanced level experience, seasoned and specialized knowledge in:
- Business sales
- Meetings and groups industry

- Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
- Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
- Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job

- Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
- Air travel with frequent overnight stays required
