Events & Marketing Manager – SEO (Sponsors for Educational Opportunity)

Job Description:

The Events & Marketing Manager of the SEO Law Program is responsible for supporting the Director in the planning, coordination and execution of events and special projects. The Events & Marketing Manager will also support the Associate Director on communications with key stakeholders such as participants, law firm partners and law schools. Additionally, this role will also provide administrative support to SEO Law team members throughout the planning and implementation of our educational and professional programs. Responsibilities include:

60% Events:

  • Identify new pre-law recruitment events, coordinate travel logistics and attend events as needed
  • Research, source, plan and coordinate with speakers and/or volunteers from partner law firms or alumni
  • Research, source, plan and coordinate with vendors and law firm partners to secure venues and catering for Law Institute
  • Work with vendors and law firm partners regarding timelines, processes and other deliverables (for Institute)
  • Assist the Associate Director in coordinating logistics for law school admissions officials for summer webinar series
  • Work with the Associate Director or Director to design event feedback surveys
  • Manage special projects and handle ad hoc administrative tasks as needed

40% Marketing:

  • Support the Associate Director and Director in the strategic marketing campaigns for recruitment of prospective applicants for specific events and for Fellowship & Catalyst programs, including drafting and sending e-mail and text marketing
  • Design flyers, presentations, and social media posts and collect and evaluate social media analytics (Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram)
  • Update SEO Law websites (Google Sites; WordPress) as needed
  • Partner with internal SEO Communications team for all marketing materials

  • Communication – In this role, you will be frequently interacting with vendors and law firm partners. Excellent communication skills, intellectual depth and a professional presence are very important. You know how to communicate effectively with vendors and law firm partners to get the job done, and you have experience thinking creatively to keep costs low.
  • Organized – Must be well adept at managing multiple and often competing priorities to meet results in a timely manner and efficient manner.
  • Flexible Problem Solver – must be able to adjust plans swiftly to unforeseen or unexpected events
  • Highly Independent – while you enjoy brainstorming with other team members and obtaining feedback from the Director when needed, you must be comfortable working independently with external vendors.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • +/- 2 years in comparable roles, developing the competencies described. However, we aren’t tied to the number of years: we know that talented candidates come with different years of experience!
  • Experience with email marketing campaigns; proficiencies in Canva, Adobe CS, Hubspot, and other email marketing tools strongly preferred.
  • A background in event planning; must be comfortable managing external vendor relationships and managing tasks through planning to evaluation.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • An ability to empathize with colleagues and individuals from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Availability to work a few evenings throughout the year, such as attending webinars or kick-off events.

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

  • Strong relationship management skills with a proven background in developing and leveraging strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project Management: An affinity for strategic planning with the ability to break down issues into component pieces, build project work plans, assume accountability for timelines, lead cross-functional working teams, evaluate data for continuous improvement, and navigate ambiguity along the way.
  • Expert presentation and extemporaneous communication skills. Must be comfortable addressing and engaging with diverse communities at various levels and mediums, including in-person, email, messaging platforms, and phone calls.
