Sony Electronics is seeking an Events Manager, Engineer in Charge (EIC) for our San Jose location. This opportunity is a 12 month fixed term role, with potential to transition to full time regular employee in future.

Responsibilities:

You’ll serve as the primary point of contact for Event Engineering; which may include video, audio, lighting, network, and communications systems before, during, and after events, working remotely and onsite, including the following:

  • Design, build, manage complex multi-tiered, video and audio production systems and operational teams that support the company’s marketing initiatives at its events, such as trade shows, press, internal and public facing events, throughout North America
  • Planning, identifying system requirements with the management and/or client, preparing diagrams, product prep/configuration, pre-build, and system test.
  • Build and maintain relationships with vendors, partners, and external agencies, strategically negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficient event execution.
  • Monitor, analyze, and solve problems with Radio Frequency (RF), video, audio, cameras, wired and wireless intercom systems, digital switchers, digital routers, digital video servers, graphics, automation, post-production, lighting, webcasting and networking.
  • Be a thought partner and leader for requesters requiring technical expertise to guide the AV aspects of their events or programs (including post-production)
  • Projects include but are not limited to tradeshows, musical productions, internal company events, experiential events (large and small scale) and product launches

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of managing and leading technical event production teams, including third party resources, with a deep understanding of roles and responsibilities required in a crew, based on the vision and production needs
  • In depth understanding of the technical infrastructure of the requirements for complex live event production; space layout, audio, video, power, IT, lighting, streaming, recording, broadcasting
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor leadership skills, with a clear focus on cost control and efficiency
  • Proficiency in working with both Mac OS and Windows Operating Systems, as well as computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Suite
  • Familiarity with Vectorworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp
  • This role requires 30-40% travel to venues, occasionally working long hours, weekends, or company holidays
  • Extended periods of being on your feet and ability to lift 50 pounds is required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $109,000 to $146,000.
