Responsibilities

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Drive the holistic strategy for events and communications within Consumer Channel Sales & Marketing (CCSM)
  • Ensure compliance and diversity & inclusion are considered for events and communications

Events

  • Manage internal and external events while demonstrating thought leadership through exploring new delivery opportunities and attendee experiences
  • Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders both inside and outside of Microsoft to deliver event solutions that support collective goals and outcomes
  • Lead a wide variety of v-teams for each event, creating a positive and inclusive environment where everyone can contribute and do their best work to put on a successful event
  • Engage with senior leaders to update, collaborate, and strategize event components and deliveries
  • Drive budget, resourcing, vendor management, and technical requirements for events

Communications

  • Work with product and device teams to gain insights of key strategies, features, and functionality to better align CCSM messaging and communication strategy
  • Lead internal and external positioning of CCSM’s CVP, continuing to strengthen her brand as a leader and helping to tell her own story in alignment with the company mission, strategy, leadership principles and cultural attributes
  • Work with Director, Operations and Communications, to partner across the organization to develop CVP communications content and drive storytelling for internal and external communications
  • Act as single-point-of-contact for any internal or external, speaking, social media or press/media/analyst requests
  • Create and align CVP communications plan to CCSM RoB and oversee execution and scale of plan

Qualifications

  • 5+ years combined experience in event production and communications (internal communications, marketing communications, or speech management)
  • Previous experience leading project teams and working with senior executives in fast paced, high pressure, often ambiguous environments
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, exceptional storytelling, ability to clearly articulate complex issues and formulate recommendations to a wide variety of audiences
  • Experience with small to large event production, event logistics, event management, and event communications
  • Strong executive presence and confidence, willing to take on big challenges, advocate a position, build a business case, and influence others; Interpersonal and conflict resolutions skills
  • Exceptional cross-group collaboration skills to work across many teams and functions successfully and independently
  • High integrity, capable of excellent judgement and decision-making skills, showing the utmost discretion in the management of confidential corporate information
  • Ambitious, self-starter, thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, effectively manages priorities
  • Able to manage internal teams and vendor agencies ensuring all deliverables are met
  • Strong attention to detail from big picture to tactical execution
  • Ability to effectively manage a wide range of agendas and priorities that can often conflict
  • BA/BS in Journalism, English, or Communications, or equivalent experience
