Job Description:

TorchLight seeks a Director of Operations and Events Strategy for a company located in the Washington, D.C. metro area. The Director of Operations and Events Strategy will develop and implement the overall corporate plan and events strategy to deliver significant business growth. He or she will have broad range of responsibilities and will work closely with the CEO and other stakeholders to achieve company objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

·       Work closely with top executives to develop and implement corporate strategic plan

·       Create event strategy and deliver flawless event execution and operations

·       Develop operational processes including reporting, administration, budgeting, and quality assurance; ensure accurate and timely operational implementation

·       Foster and manage client relationships

·       Report on operations results and lead ongoing performance optimization

·       Develop and manage team to deliver on goals and objectives

·       Lead staff recruiting and hiring process

·       Assist on other projects as needed


  • 7+ years of experience in operations, events, and personnel management
  • Proven success in the development and implementation of strategic plans for events-related businesses
  • Deep knowledge of meeting and conference industry
  • Adept at budget management, as well as other financial operations
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Significant experience in HR and hiring
  • Skilled manager and developer of people
  • B.A. and industry specific certification required (CMP, CSEP, or related credential)
