Job Description:
The Director of Events will lead both rentals for Newlab Brooklyn Navy Yard and Newlab Brand events. They are responsible for bringing in $1M+ in revenue by marketing, selling, and running events in the Newlab Brooklyn Navy Yard Space. They will also take the lead on planning and executing premium corporate events that drive brand awareness and business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive meaningful revenue from event space rentals – track and report on your revenue pipeline and generation
- Create marketing materials for the Newlab Events Space in Brooklyn Navy Yard to drive interest in the space for corporate gatherings, conferences, meetings, offsites, and more
- Manage the physical space ops in partnership with the building maintenance team such as AV and building repairs in the events space
- Build relationships with clients who rent the space and guide them with specs, branding, AV needs for their events inside Newlab Brooklyn Navy Yard
- Be on-site to make sure the execution of the event rentals goes smoothly and the client has a good experience
Leading Corporate Events
- Lead large-scale corporate events for the Newlab brand in the Newlab space
- Work with the Creative Director and wider team to create premium brand experiences, captivating programming, and memorable activations
- Onboard and manage contractors and agencies
- Manage event registration and lead follow up
- Event content and experience curation, including distilling the narrative and defining the event concept, format; and speakers to bring the narrative to life
- Create pricing structures for ticket sales, merch sales, and corporate sponsorships to ensure the event is profitable
- Develop and track client engagement programs at events to ensure the Newlab Enterprise team is maximizing opportunities to meet with clients and targets at events
- Oversee Post-event activities including post-event survey, marketing efforts to convert attendees into Marketing Qualified Leads, and distribution of event video/content
- Examples: Annual Conference during Climate Week, Annual Awards Show for Top Startup Founders, Events Series featuring experts in Climate and DeepTech fields (think Masterclass or Ted Talks)
Managing Events Ops and People
- Support webinar strategy and webinar ops
- Support event sponsorships and speaking opportunities at outside events
- Train new events staff in global locations on our protocols, systems, and brand voice
- Help interview new event hires in other physical Newlab locations
Position Requirements / Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience running corporate events and/or large-scale conferences
- Experience generating revenue from events
You are good at:
- Organization
- Project management
- Owning programs end-to-end and will be required to propose and get buy in on the overall approach and define the required resources and timeline to deliver on the approach
- Cross-functional teaming
- You respond to emails quickly, never lose track of them, and document everything in a calendar
Salary Target: 100-150k dependent on experience / skills
