In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of 2-3 event professionals and Pure Storage flagship events like Pure//Accelerate and Pure//Launch, along with top tier 3rd party trade show events, SKO, CKO, and PPC events. You’ll be driving the execution of our portfolio reporting into the Sr. Director, Events.

This leader is responsible for working cross-functionally across Pure Storage to drive attendance and develop creative ways to carry Pure experiences to the next level. Nimble and fun like a start up, but rapidly scaling with customer demand, we’re the established leader in the data storage space, so you’ll be critical in our collective success, influencing senior leadership and working with the solutions, partner, sales, field, and communication teams to amplify our company initiatives, campaigns, brand, and event goals.

Your Impact – Key Responsibilities

  • Develop the strategy and framework to support events aligned campaigns and product launches to support the overall marketing strategy and pipeline goals.
  • Plan and lead the execution of our flagship customer conference, Accelerate, with a live, virtual and hybrid strategy which draws tens of thousands of attendees across the world.
  • Lead a core event team focused on delivering keynotes, curriculum, executive tracks, communications and logistics.
  • Work closely with executives, senior leaders, and stakeholders on our flagship customer events to define messaging, agenda, speakers, training, and pre/during/post event content marketing strategy.
  • Drive event communications, both internally and externally, alongside PR and the Content Team.
  • Work in close partnership with the Digital Demand Center and Field Marketing on the audience acquisition strategy to drive high registration.
  • Work closely with partners and cross-functional marketing, business unit, and enablement teams to develop repeatable content and processes to drive scale and organization for purposeful planning and execution.
  • Manage key audiences, accelerate and work with MOPs to help measure sales pipeline, and drive marketing-influenced bookings for all events.
  • Build a partner, vendor and agency network to deliver best in class events, including platform vendors, messaging agencies, creative development and event production
  • Partner closely and have experience driving internal events with sales and sales operations like SKO, CKO, and PPC. Work closely with the creative team, to help define consistency of messaging and exciting visual identity across events and booth design.
  • Maintain and track budgets for large scale events against targets.
  • Help scale by operationalizing and improving processes alongside procurement, finance, and Ops.
  • Set success criteria, measure and report out the impact of each major event on awareness, engagement and pipeline acceleration metrics.
  • Validate event investment versus the ROI driven from each major event.

What You’ll Need To Bring To This Role…

  • 10 – 12+ years delivering successful event experiences, in person and global digital event marketing experience required
  • 5+ years managing a team of at least 2-4 people w/experience growing individuals
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual presentation skills
  • Experience carrying out 3rd party trade show events and large ‘tentpole’ marketing events for larger technology audiences like Pure//Accelerate
  • Extremely organized, collaborative, and resourceful. You’re the type of person to get it done quickly and methodically by developing workback plans as soon as you know an event is approved
  • You’re all about planning. When roadblocks or challenges arise, you know how to work through them with grace, positivity, and speed
  • Lead and influence executives with strong cross-department stakeholder management skills
  • Transparency with an eye toward proactively updating staff on upcoming events, needs, and programs
  • Data-driven mindset focused on setting and measuring KPIs and pipeline metrics
  • Strong understanding and practice of event strategy and content development from inception to post-event integrated campaign demand gen activation
  • Knowledge and experience with online event platforms and tools (registration/web/mobile) for digital, live-streamed, and in-person events
  • Experience working in both digital and in-person event environments, with in-depth knowledge managing internal and external production teams
  • Demonstrated ability to create net new event types based on business need
  • Experience working in an integrated marketing/demand gen organization
  • Optimistic self-starter (toxic vibes need not apply)
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity in a constantly changing environment with the strength and agility to drive clarity and decision making across the organization
  • Excellent budget and financial understanding
  • Strong network of event professionals, agencies, contractors, creatives, and producers
